US Foods and Chef Marcus Samuelsson Join Forces

US Foods and award-winning chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson have announced a new venture. The two will work together to launch a line of new products that will help restaurant operators bring unique flavors to their menus. As part of the collaboration, US Foods is producing six products as part of its 2017 Fall Scoop product lineup. The products provide operators with flavor profiles that were inspired by chef Samuelsson’s home of Harlem, N.Y., and his Ethiopian and Swedish heritage. Samuelsson is an award-winning chef and owner of Red Rooster Harlem, Streetbird Rotisserie, Red Rooster Shoreditch in London, and nine other restaurants. Chef Samuelsson has received several James Beard Foundation awards, including Best Chef: New York City.

“Chef Samuelsson’s passion and creativity have already made a significant impact on the restaurant industry and his community,” said Andrew Iacobucci, chief merchandising officer for US Foods. “By combining the scale of US Foods with chef Samuelsson’s skills, this partnership is one of the many ways US Foods is redefining the foodservice industry and differentiating ourselves as a partner to independent restaurants.”
