US Foods to Acquire FirstClass Foods

US Foods has agreed to acquire meat processor and supplier FirstClass Foods. Terms for the deal were not disclosed.

Established in 1962, Hawthorne, Calif.-based FirstClass Foods is a center-of-the-plate protein supplier that specializes in custom processing and portion control cuts of beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry, seafood and specialty products for customers throughout Southern California. The company’s clients include distributors, restaurants, noncommercial operators, caterers and retailers.

US Foods intends to operate the acquired business under its Stock Yards division out of FirstClass Foods’ 50,000-square-foot facility in Hawthorne. The company plans to retain all employees.

“US Foods has worked with FirstClass Foods for years and we’ve experienced the company’s commitment to high quality products and consistency,” David Norton, president of US Foods’ Stock Yards division, said in a statement. “This acquisition will allow us to expand our center-of-the-plate offering and better serve our customers throughout Southern California.”

“We are excited about this new phase of our partnership with US Foods,” Solly Benzimra, president of FirstClass Foods, said. “From the very beginning, we have delivered on our commitment to our customers and we are looking forward to the next chapter for our company as part of US Foods.”
